A: なぜならば、実質的には言葉による体系は不要ですが、ガイドとしては便利だからです。

禅の真理は、出家・持戒・坐禅という具体的な「行動」によって体現できるため、頭の中で言葉の体系をこねくり回すような学習は本来不要です。しかしながら、凡夫である私たちがその行動の意味を脳で理解し、納得して実践するためには、言葉をもって理解できる部分が大きいのもまた事実です。

Q: Why do you run this blog when you state that a conceptual system of words is unnecessary?

A: Because while it is practically unnecessary, it is convenient as a guide.
The truth of Zen is embodied through concrete actions like leaving home, keeping the precepts, and practicing Zazen; therefore, studying conceptual systems of words in your head is inherently unneeded. However, for us ordinary people to understand the meaning of those actions and practice them with conviction, it is also true that the role of words for understanding is immensely valuable.
