Q&A
- Q: What is the difference between the Shoyoroku and the Hekiganroku?
- A: Both the Shoyoroku and the Hekiganroku are Zen Koan collections. The Shoyoroku was made based on the structure of the Hekiganroku. The Shoyoroku starts with Shakyamuni. On the other hand, the Hekiganroku starts with Daruma (Bodhidharma). Therefore, the Hekiganroku emphasizes the founder of Zen more than the Shoyoroku.
