四句回向とは？

今回紹介するのは四句回向（しくえこう /shiku-eko）。

回向とは、自分の得た功徳を周りに向け回すこと。

お経を読んだあとに、必ずといっていいほど読まれる。

英訳概要overview

This is the most common dedication (Eko) in Japanese Zen temples.

It is called the “Four-Line Dedication.”

Eko means to give the good result of practice to other people.

In Asia, many people believe that reading sutras brings good merit. So after reading a sutra, people say this dedication.

Today in Japan, people usually use a modern Japanese translation. But this time, I recorded it in “Song-style Chinese reading.”

There are also other ways to read this dedication: modern Japanese, Han-on, and Obaku Tang-style.

The different ways of reading come from the history of China.

It depends on which Chinese dynasty Japan received it from.

これは、宗朝唐音の読み方だ。

宋朝唐音というのは、宋の時代に、留学僧などが作った字音のこと。

今回は、宋朝唐音で四句回向を読んで、次に現代の読みで四句回向を読んだ。

われらとしゅじょうと　みなともに　ぶつどうをじょうぜんことを

四句回向 modern reading

最後におまけで略三宝。

略三宝はよくやりすぎてなんとなくつけないといけないような気がするからつけた。

東西南北の四方と、上下、さらにその間の八方（十方）に、過去・現在・未来というあらゆる時間（三世）にわたって存在する、すべての仏を讃える言葉。
